Summer 2008

Data Management Geologist

Copper Fox Metals Inc.


Primary contact for on-site exploration operations at the Schaft Creek porphyry copper deposit in northern British Columbia, Canada. Completing pre-feasibility study, attention was paid to geotechnical and geologic drilling, liaising with consulting engineers and government officials. Managed staff and performed lithological and geotechnical logging. Operated oriented core drillhole tool, located and flagged new drill sites, maintained 3D project maps in Surpac and built and maintained drilling/hole progress website.

February 2008

Crew Geologist

Mars Society Canada


Planned, designed and executed self-directed research into the feasibility of soil gas as a resource indicator in a Mars analogue setting. Conducted introductory-level geology instruction to engineers and biologists on the crew during our two week mission. Involved in public outreach before and after, including interviews with CBC, SFU and newspapers. Research abstract available here.

Summer 2007

Junior Geologist

Performed lithological and geotechnical logging at the Schaft Creek porphyry copper deposit in northern BC. Helped supervise drilling operations for proper on-site core handling. Operated oriented core drillhole tool, located and flagged new drill sites, maintained project maps and built new database-driven 3D maps in AutoCAD.

Analyzed corporate pricing structure for this Calgary-based insurance cooperative of oil & gas companies. Required an understanding of mechanical issues (blowouts, etc) that could result in significant financial losses to companies. Attended a day-course on petroleum extration, distillation and distribution. General office duties and website construction.

Built websites using HTML, PHP and CSS for a wide range of clients. Set deadlines, managed projects, and communicated with designers, photographers and network consultants to ensure projects were completed on-time and under budget. Also worked with junior mining companies to enhance and fulfil their website presence.
